Chaitan Khosla is a professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, and director of Stanford ChEM-H. He received his PhD in 1990 at Caltech. After completing postdoctoral studies at the John Innes Centre in the UK, he joined Stanford University in 1992. His laboratory focuses on understanding and engineering assembly line polyketide synthases from antibiotic-producing bacteria. Khosla and his collaborators have also used chemical approaches to study celiac sprue pathogenesis, and have attempted to engineer non-dietary therapies and related management tools for this widespread but overlooked disease
